ishat Chunian Ltd’s corporate space is a well designed piece of architecture. “It was specially built and professionally designed,” says Nadia Bilal, director marketing Nishat Chunian. “We moved in October 2001 and have never looked back, it changed our whole outlook. Before that we had two town houses to house our corporate staff, it was cramped. Moving in to this space was a pleasant change,” she says smilingly.
Nadia enjoys working in the open plan workspace. “I don’t think anyone here has any issue with this office design. There are no noise or distraction issues. We can comfortably house a head count of 150 people here. It’s a quiet and productive work environment. The corporate color did not play a major role in the office décor or interiors; it’s navy and only appears on the stationary,” she says.
The architecture was handled by Habib Fida Ali and the interiors were done by Raees Fahim. “This space was designed with staff input so a lot of thought went into this process,” she continues. “There is a day-care center for the working moms with the age limit of less than two months going up to eight years; I think we are one of very few companies in Pakistan who provide this facility to their staff. No, this is not a gimmick to impress customers but an ongoing policy of NCL to keep and retain employees,” she says.
“There is staff parking at the back and visitors parking at the front. Land was acquired especially to build staff parking spaces. There is a staff dining hall at the back too,” she confirms.
“Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical and expecting more than others think is possible,”
