A woman’s essential shopping manual, this book is full of useful advice. The prose is engaging and informal. The book’s cover is eye-catching, makes you quickly jump inside to read what it’s all about. However, for some strange reason the photos featured on the cover are not included in the book inside. Inside, the glossy finish, colorful layout and illustrations are catchy and attractive. Most of the advice is common sense. I get the feeling I have heard it all before; however, it’s not boring.

Coupled with Suzanna and Trinny’s style series and the lucky shopping manual; it makes a pleasant read.

However, I am still looking for ‘the science of sexy’ and ‘the pocket stylist’ to complete my set of style books on shopping. Someone recommended those books to me…

  1. What Trinny and Susannah did next
Fashion gurus Trinny and Susannah have ditched the television make-over in favour of an extreme mockumentary on their flagging careers

Trinny and Susannah are smoking furiously at a slate table in the paved garden of Trinny’s North Kensington townhouse. Susannah, 48, is remarkably svelte in a plunging navy Prada top and trousers. Trinny, 46, is nicely upholstered in a purple gingham maxi dress and vertiginous Bottega sandals. But it’s All Old Stuff, you understand. Ages Old.

The grandes dames of the television makeover, who pioneered the genre with their plummy grab-a-boob bossiness, are canny enough not to be seen flashing the Amex in the current climate. Besides, Susannah (Constantine) lives in deepest Sussex now and rarely even wears lipstick.
