Procrastination and Writer’s block – My Typical Day
November 24, 2012

W

hat do you do when you are free? You play with your toys.

Unfortunately, Sarah, my niece, likes to play with my toys as well. The latest one in my collection is the smart phone; my bro bought it for me a few months ago. She and I are always having a tussle on who is going to play with it when I get home. I have deleted most games that Adnan downloaded on them. I have kept only two: Jewel Lust and Bejeweled. She always ruins my score when I am not looking…I have also put a password on it but she discovered it once so I have to change it now!

No, I don’t only play games on it. I read books on it as well. I can access my email, the net and best of all, it can be recharged. It’s virtually on twenty four seven at home. It’s especially handy when there is no electricity so there is no downtime or load-shedding break.

The other day I was able to discover an electronic version of the book on it that I had to let go at Readings because it was so expensive. That reminds me of another thing. I am very upset with ‘Readings’ management. Twice, it’s happened to me. The price tags on new books are sometimes misleading…check your totals with the management before you take your books to the checkout counter for payment. The prices can change when they make up the bill. I ended up paying a much bigger bill twice than I had initially anticipated. It happens a lot with new books. They explain it away by saying that there was a mistake on the price tag. Anyway, I no longer need to buy loads of books when I can download them on my phone for free and read them whenever and where ever convenient.  It’s portable, light-weight, and I can hold it in my hand and can read any time, any place, even in bed.

You can Youtube, you can watch TV, you can listen to music, you can read, you can write, you can take a photo, you can store data, you can sketch, you can download, you can web surf, you can text, you can email, you can call and even answer calls. The only thing you can’t do on my phone? You can’t skype. (My brother’s phone is much smarter. His can skype too…). There are smarts and then there are smarts.
