Pakistan Elections: May 11, 2013 – My Story

The people have spoken. Respecting their word and moving on with it is more important at this point than creating a lot of strife and unpleasantness which Mr. Khan managed to do from his sickbed in spite of things going well at the elections for him. My advice to the politicians, listen to your citizens and do a good job this time - together as a team. Your people are quite capable of voting you off like they did with PPP if you don’t deliver. (By the time I post this, Mr. Sharif has already met with Mr. Khan and tried to put the unpleasantness behind him. I guess he wants to play nice and be sensible this time. This is another good move on his part.) By Fareeha Qayoom

Random Thoughts on ‘A Little History of the World’

If you look at the overall pattern derived from world history, you would notice that elite and their bureaucracy are always trying to maintain the status quo or their hold on the silent majority while the silent majority occasionally overthrows them and tries to bring equality which never lasts because status quo must be maintained at all costs so the elite and their bureaucracy prevail in the long run. Coke Studio: Season 7 – Effortless, Professional and Slick

Bottom line, Season 7, episode one by Strings is an effortless, professional production that is indeed “Sound of the Nation” reinterpreting the traditional musical instruments of Sitar, Dholak, Flute – bringing together surprise collaborations from guest stars and the house band. I have no faults to find, though, the presentation is pretty low-key because it borrows from our musical roots and traditions, therefore, hardly contains any elements of surprise– very smooth job indeed. The Empire Strikes Back

Imran Khan and Qadri are not the answer. They are only human and fallible and subject to the same human frailties as the rest of us including stupidity and arrogance. When the dust settles, history will record that they were only rabble rousers. By Fareeha Qayoom

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly – Relationships

...There are so many unhappy, negative people around, especially in Pakistan – our whole culture revolves around criticizing someone, complaining about someone, ganging up and bullying someone, picking on someone who is different, bitching, complaining, moaning, groaning, whining, carping, we spend all our lives just talking negative – in our homes, schools, workplaces, television programs, newspapers… By Fareeha Qayoom
